The reason why I say I can't see it is because even in that situation, that would be the point where I would just begin to be open to the idea of being intimate in any way. so to go from that to acting on it in one night would be pretty amazing. lol

Ok Eb, I get your drift. So if a dude successfully seduced you maybe he tempted you into the bedroom earlier than you expected?

Now, dropping the analogy, what would seduction look like to you? Meaning what do you think it would take for a guy to seduce you IF he could? Coercion implies some kind of underhanded manipulation and the the coerced party may have been deceived at some point. And seduction certainly can involve that, but also certainly doesn't necessitate it.

I think coercion is about temptation. Enticing someone to do something that maybe they would've been interested in otherwise, but they just didn't know (about) until you presented it in a certain way, gave a good sales pitch or somehow reframed the situation for them.

Here's a good way to differentiate them. Seduction is I'm walking down the block and a random car salesman stops me and is able to get me thinking about buying a Camry when I wasn't previously thinking about buying a car. Coercion is I'm walking down the block and a random car salesman gets me to leave my job at my non-profit and become a car saleswoman. Eventhough I wasn't thinking about buying the car in the first scenario, it's not out of reason that I would eventually get a car. So he just had a good pitch. But if someone gets me to change a fundamental aspect of who I am, then that's something else altogether. Now if buying the car is way out of my budget and I have absolutely zero use for the car, then we are treading into coercion territory. I think you get the idea though.

So basically what I was saying is I think guys have this elaborate "scheme"/plan on certain nights and they are thinking that they need to present themselves in some kind of way to me to get what they want. Meanwhile I'd literally thought "today he and I will kiss."

To be clear, I don't think this is too rare. I think most women at least have it in their mind that they will be intimate with whomever they are going to be intimate with before it happens. I was just thinking that I pretty much plan it out in advanced without the other person knowing. lol

My point was simply that

Oh yeah...the eliptical is great for that. I love learning lessons from others' mistakes because that's less for me to learn the hard way!

Mr. A, I'm assuming you meant to write 1996 instead of 2006. Because in 2006, you had to walk miles over a bridge to grab Diddy some cheesecake in order to sign a bad Bad Boy contract, not get promoted or paid and then disbanded.

My story is also about a job opportunity that I didn't take. I was sales manager at a very prominent hotel. A month into the new gig, my manager - the Sales Dierctor - found out she was pregnant and began planning her four month maternity leave in which she was grooming me to be her replacement. Instead of welcoming the opportunity to shine for the Regional VP of Sales, I chose to move on after four months because I was nervous about the thought of working so closely with a notoriously hard to please General Manager.

But I always wonder "what if" about that situation...

Lesson: Don't let fear dictate your moves. If a situation won't kill you, it's always better to find out and be disappointed with the outcome rather than wonder "what if?"

It hurts my head to think of what I could have don...

It hurts my head to think of what I could have done or been. So I take it that it means that I am not supposed to do that. So now what I do is focus on making the best of what I have. Once I realize how to work with what im given I will be able to better handle what I am going to get.

So many coulda shoulda woulda's but im going to ignore all those. I am happy with right now!! I have some things right now that I would crumble if they were taken away.

What if you worked @ bad boy and advanced and had to ride with Biggie that night he got shot. You may have caught a slug or two. What if you were assigned to work with a person who was one way in the streets but another at the office and was pulled into some street nonsense. What if you Rose to the top of your department and than got notice via the internet you wouldnt have a job. What if, What if, What if?

I believe that different paths can lead to the same place. Dont worry about that. To get things started, I'll start with something simple like Bad Boy.

The Scenario: 14 years ago I interned at Epic records in the Black Music dept. It was there that I met some pretty important people. It was a great experience, one that could have been better if I wasn't still in my shy, non-talkative phase. Anyway, I commuted to Manhattan using monies from unemployment which was ending right around the time my internship was ending. On my last day my boss, the exec VP, advised me to go see Kirk Burroughs at Bad Boy to see about a job.

Word? Fine, so I did. Kirk offered me another internship, not a job. Commuting is expensive so I declined and took a job in retail (WTF?!).

The Possibilities of the other choice: If I accepted the internship it would have been June 2006. This was the during the height of Bad Boy's popularity and influence in the music industry. Not a bad internship to have. Even then though, I didn't want to work for Diddy (who I may or may not have met anyway, and it certainly would not have been a bad thing if I had). What really stings is, less than a year later, B.I.G. was killed. I'm not saying I would have definitely met the man but the opportunity would have been there. The opportunity to participate in the Think B.I.G. campaign was there. Infinite Possibilities. Instead I chose a job that paid little and had no future or opportunity.

The Lesson: Think of the big picture (no pun) and stay on your grind and hustle. If I wanted it bad enough, I should have found a way to make it work. Intern all day, work 2nd or 3rd shift at night. Whatever. Hustle! Hindsight is 20/20 but it can hurt like staring into the sun.

SUPERB analogy!!
